Dr. Robert Wong, MD, is a Clinical Associate Professor (Affiliated) at Stanford University School of Medicine and a staff gastroenterologist at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Healthcare System. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Stanford and specializes in managing complex liver diseases, including viral hepatitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and MASLD/MASH. Dr. Wong’s research focuses on the epidemiology, outcomes, and health disparities in chronic liver disease, particularly among underserved and ethnic minority populations. He has received NIH R01 funding and career-development awards from the AASLD and ACG. With over 250 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals such as JAMA, Hepatology, and Gastroenterology, he holds an H-index of 54. Dr. Wong also serves on the editorial boards of Hepatology and Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology and is Editor-in-Chief of Gastroenterology Research.
