Dr. Ira Jacobson is the Director of Hepatology at NYU Langone Health and a Professor of Medicine at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in liver disease, with over 30 years of experience in hepatology and gastroenterology. Dr. Jacobson has been a principal investigator in many pivotal clinical trials that have shaped the treatment of viral hepatitis, including studies on interferon-based and direct-acting antiviral therapies for hepatitis B and C. His research also extends to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), autoimmune liver diseases like primary biliary cholangitis, and emerging therapies for liver fibrosis. He has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and reviews, and is a fellow of numerous professional societies including the AASLD, AGA, and the Royal College of Physicians.
